The CCHS JVB team opened the second half of the season with a tight win over a much improved Westford Academy on a rainy afternoon.

JVB had the majority of chances throughout the game but the well planted Westford defense and strong goalkeeper kept the game deadlocked. Meanwhile, Westford had a couple of chances of their own through their speedy right winger, but all were handled by JVB’s defense while earning another shutout.

The last half hour of the game was a shooting gallery as Westford packed it in,conceding over a dozen corners and rejecting two shots on the goal line. Finally, with eight minutes left in the game, JVB got its goal as Elizabeth Walsh rifled a lefty shot from a scramble inside the box that bent the Westford goalie’s hand. It was a well earned win.

JVB next plays October 8 at Bedford.
